Cyclom-Y Series
|
The Cyclom-Y is the ideal Multiport Serial Card for applications
where high performance and cost-effectiveness are basic requirements.
Modems, terminals, printers, scanners, sensors, point-of-sale
terminals are examples of serial devices that can be connected
to the Cyclom-Y serial ports.
The Cyclom-Y uses a highly integrated hardware technology
and its architecture is modular and flexible. The choices
range from entry-level 4-port models to models expandable
to 32 ports per slot. Both PCI and ISA models are available.
A wide variety of Operating Systems are supported including
Windows 95, 98, 2000, NT, Linux and several flavors of UNIX.
The device drivers have been developed in close integration
with hardware and operating systems and have been optimized
and improved for years.
The embedded high-performance RISC processors are specifically
designed for data communication, making the Cyclom-Y a truly
intelligent asynchronous multiport interface. With internal
FIFOs and a very efficient hardware interface, the Cyclom-Y
provides a superior performance at a cost competitive with
non-intelligent serial solutions.
Applications:
Internet Service Providers (ISPs)
Remote Access
Bulletin Board Systems (BBS)
Multiuser Environments
Office Automation
Factory Floor Automation
Testing Equipment
Software Drivers:
Windows (95, 98, 2000, NT), Linux, SCO UNIX, BSDI,
FreeBSD, and others.

The Cyclom-Y can be used in PC servers to provide serial connectivity
to Remote Access Servers and Multiuser Systems. It has been
also used to implement customized point-of-sale, process control,
testing and automation systems. There are several Cyclom-Y models
available to satisfy a wide variety of applications and requirements.
All Cyclom-Y models are software compatible and can be mixed
and matched up to four host cards per system. Each card requires
one IRQ and a small window in memory space (8kb in ISA and 16kb
in PCI). The PCI version can be installed anywhere in the 32-bit
addressing space, eliminating the potential for hardware conflicts.
This ISA or PCI 4-port, low-cost model uses a 4-port
cable, DB-9 cable and provides full modem handshaking.
It is the ideal solution for high performance applications
where expandability is not a requirement. Applications
include small BBSs and home automation.
ISA or PCI bus
4 RS232 Ports
DB9 Connectors
Surge Protection
|
This ISA or PCI 8-port, low-cost, compact, entry-level
model uses RJ-12 connectors integrated on the board.
It is recommended for applications where complete HW
flow control is not needed (the RTS signal is not supported).
A typical application involves multiuser systems connected
to local serial devices.
ISA or PCI bus
8 RS-232 Ports
RJ11 Connectors
Surge Protection
|
This ISA or PCI 8-port, low-cost model uses an octopus
cable, DB-25 cable, and provides full modem handshaking.
It is the ideal solution for high performance applications
where expandability is not a requirement. Applications
include multiuser systems and automation.
ISA or PCI bus
8 RS232 Ports
DB25 Connectors

The Cyclom-Ye (ISA) and Cyclom-YeP (PCI) are expandable
host cards to be installed inside the PC server. They
connect to external Serial Modules to provide up to
32 RS-232 serial ports. The Serial Modules are available
in 8- and 16-port versions with DB-25 or RJ-45 connectors
and can be combined according to your needs. This is
the best choice for ISPs and large multiuser systems
that require a large number of serial ports with high
data throughput.
ISA or PCI bus
8 to 32 RS232 Ports
RJ45 and DB25 Connectors
DB25 connecotr available with 8 or 16 ports
Expandable in 8 or 16 Modules

The Cyclom-Y uses proven, highly integrated hardware technology.
It supports both PCI and ISA buses and is available in several
options of connectors and number of ports.
Several operating systems have the Cyclom-Y driver built into
the kernel (Linux, FreeBSD, BSDI, etc.). For all the other
systems, Cyclades provides the drivers in standard format
compatible with the operating system installation utilities.
By integrating intelligent serial controllers with built-in
RISC processors, the Cyclom-Y can provide superior performance
at a cost competitive with non-intelligent serial solutions.
There are multiple RISC processors per board, each one controlling
4 serial ports.
The on-board processors can execute several functions that
can be offloaded from the host CPU, leaving the system free
to execute your application. The efficient hardware interface
saves system bus bandwidth and allows the Cyclom-Y to have
the best performance in its class.
Cyclades Corporation is a remote access company known for
its commitment to customer satisfaction. All products
