The SPEEDLAN 4000 products are high-performance 11 Mb wireless
bridges that create interconnectivity between buildings and
provide an alternative to Telco leased and fiber optic lines.
The products within the SPEEDLAN 4000 series present an unparalleled
level of performance and features for any organization needing
high-speed connectivity between buildings. The 4000 series
is especially ideal for providing links for enterprise LAN-to-LAN
applications such as campus network connections, banking,
manufacturing, and hospitals. This enables a central Ethernet
LAN to be connected with one or more remote LANs up to 25
miles apart.
The SPEEDLAN 4000 series represents a significant breakthrough
in LAN connectivity by offering high performance wireless
connectivity and full remote management capabilities in an
affordable package. This single, self-contained unit plugs
directly into a wired network segment and requires no configuration.
SPEEDLAN 4000 bridges automatically sense local traffic, build
internal address tables, and operate retransmission and packet
filtering protocols immediately, without user intervention.
The 4000 series enables network administrators to restrict
traffic based on MAC addresses and Advanced Protocol Filters.
The SPEEDLAN 4000 series is compatible with all IEEE 802.3
and 802.2 LAN devices, all computer platforms and operating
systems, and are completely transparent to other network devices.
For ease of management, they can be configured, monitored,
and analyzed by using SNMP. The SPEEDLAN 4000 series offers
long-term value and goes where wires cannot. Since there are
no monthly fees or government licenses, they offer everything
needed to bring data networks together conveniently and cost
effectively.
The 4000 series includes the standard, shelf-mounted SPEEDLAN
4300/4400. The 4300 acts as a central base station and the
4400 acts as Customer Premise Equipment (CPE). The 4300 and
4400 are mounted inside the building and connect to the outdoor
antenna using low loss RF antenna cable.
