    Description

    SPEEDWAVE CM

    CM Series
    Operating at 6, 7, 8 and 11 GHz With Capacities of 4, 8, 12, 28xDS1, DS3, 3xDS3, and OC-3

The CM Series radio consists of a Customer Access Panel, Signal Processing Unit, RF Waveguide Manifold and RF Modules, all housed in one compact chassis. This basic design covers many data rates and RF configurations for the highest possible degree of commonality. It provides a unique facility for upgrading capacity or altering protection configuration in the field by only changing a few plug-in modules. The low power consumption and the ability to install two protected terminals in one rack minimizes user site requirements. These feature truly optimize performance, reliability, operation, installation, and maintenance.

    Flexibility
The same chassis is used for all capacities and frequencies. The modular architecture is specifically designed to add flexibility in system design, installation, and maintenance.

    Reliability
Using state-of-the-art design and manufacturing techniques, the CM Series offers high reliability for critical private and public networks. Quality and reliability are this radio's hallmarks.

    Easy Upgrade
The CM Series platform is one of the only radios to offer quick and simple upgrades from 4DS1 to 3DS3 without replacing the entire radio. Upgrading to a higher capacity in the same bandwidth requires replacing a single plug-in card. Capacity changes to a different bandwidth requires four cards. A typical upgrade takes less than five minutes.

    Reduced Sparing
The common signal processing architecture and wide-band field tunable RF units allows reduced sparing for radio networks of mixed frequencies and capacities. This in turn saves on up-front cost and eases the maintenance burden.

    Low Profile
Requiring only 19 rack spaces for every possible capacity, frequency, and protection configuration, this radio family offers one of the smallest footprints in the industry. The small size is ideal for equipment sites where floor space is at a premium.
