The Cyclades-PR3000/ Terminal Server (PR3000/TS) is the solution for users looking for a remote access or terminal server with maximum performance, reliability and functionality and best cost effectiveness. The Terminal Server plus Router is only one of the possible configurations of the Cyclades-PR3000 router platform (see PR3000 literature for other configurations). 

The PR3000/TS connects to the LAN using a built-in Ethernet interface and provides up to 64* RS232 serial ports (in modules of 16 ports) that can be used to provide remote access (with a modem bank) or to control local printers and terminals connected to multiuser host systems. 

The powerful hardware uses the latest in microprocessor technology, eliminating performance bottlenecks found in other products. The PR3000 is equipped with a 50 MIPS PowerPC CPU in dual processor architecture (MPC860) that provides raw processing power never seen before in integrated networking equipment. 

Besides the LAN and dial-up interfaces, the PR3000/TS can support up to two additional WAN ports for Frame-Relay, PPP, or X.25 (configurable as V.35, RS232, X.21, T1/E1 with internal DSU/CSU). It also has full routing capabilities including support for RIP and OSPF. 

If you are an ISP, just connect the phone lines though a modem bank, plug the WAN link directly into the PR3000 and you have a Point-of-Presence (POP) without separate routers, DSU/CSU, Terminal Adapters, Ethernet switches/hubs, servers or other equipment. 

Corporate customers can use the PR3000 to provide reliable remote access to the corporate LAN using analog phone lines (with modems). In multiuser configurations, the PR3000/TS provides maximum performance and efficiency with convenient RJ45 cabling and rack-mount design.

Below is a diagram showing a LAN (Local Area Network) with the PR3000/TS connected to a modem bank and then to the POTS (Telephone Service) network, to provide access to Telecommuters and home users. It also shows an optional WAN (Wide Area Network) uplink.
